Semi Senior Accountant
Rayleigh, Essex (office-based)
Salary from £25,000
An established and personable independent accountancy practice based in Rayleigh is looking to appoint a Semi Senior Accountant to support its growing portfolio of SME clients. The firm works closely with owner-managed businesses across a variety of sectors, providing hands-on financial support and tailored advice. This is a varied, client-facing position offering exposure across accounts preparation, tax compliance and day-to-day finance operations, making it ideal for someone looking to broaden their practical experience within practice.
Role Requirements
*Preparing management accounts for a portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses.
*Completing bookkeeping assignments and submitting VAT returns.
*Processing payroll and assisting with workplace pension administration.
*Preparing personal tax returns.
*Supporting the preparation of budgets and cashflow forecasts.
*Reviewing and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records.
*Using cloud-based and desktop accounting software to produce accurate financial reports.
*Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and provide day-to-day financial guidance.
*Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
Personal Requirements
*Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
*Studying towards, or completed, AAT Level 4.
*Working knowledge of software such as Sage and Xero.
*Sound understanding of core accounting principles.
*Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
*Confident communicator with a professional and proactive approach.
