Your new company
A leading national regulatory body is seeking a junior legal professional to join its expanding legal team on a 9-month contract, with strong potential for extension/permanence. The organisation plays a central role in overseeing technically complex regulatory frameworks and large-scale system developments across the UK. It is currently involved in several high-impact reform programmes that shape the long-term direction of the sector.
Your new role
You will join a large legal function responsible for delivering practical, solutions-focused legal advice on a wide range of public and regulatory law matters. This position offers both collaborative project work and substantial autonomy, with exposure to major initiatives involving infrastructure, system design, and emerging technologies.You will be involved in:
*Advising policy and project teams on public law and regulatory questions
*Supporting legislative interpretation and drafting exercises
*Contributing to consultations, regulatory updates, and code or licencing developments
*Working on system-wide reform projects involving technical frameworks and new market architecture
*Delivering timely, well-reasoned advice in a fast-paced environment
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful, you will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with 1-4 years’ PQE as a guideline. Experience in public law or energy regulation is essential. You should be comfortable working independently, handling advisory queries, and engaging with technically detailed subject matter.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
*Strong legal analysis and drafting skills
*Ability to work at pace and manage your own workload
*Confidence interacting with multidisciplinary stakeholders
*An interest in regulatory systems, infrastructure, or technical markets
E&W/NI/Scotland-qualified or Antipodean-qualified with UK experience candidates are welcomed.
What you’ll get in return
*Annual salary of £50,000 - £63,000 (London); £47,500 - £58,500 (Glasgow)
*Hybrid working with 20% office attendance
