Exciting Opportunity for a Market Risk Analyst – London
A leading energy trading company, represented by recruitment firm Barclay Simpson, is seeking a driven and analytical Market Risk Analyst to join their dynamic Risk team in London.
About the Role:
As a Market Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the trading operations by ensuring market risks are closely monitored and transparently reported. You will take ownership of multiple business sectors, ensuring risks are quickly flagged to the Head of Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities:
*Develop and implement innovative reports to enhance market risk transparency for key stakeholders.
*Produce daily position reports summarizing all market risk exposures from trading and hedging activities.
*Generate daily Profit & Loss (P&L) reports with clear, commercially driven commentary.
*Ensure accuracy of market data used in reports and validate methodologies for meaningful insights.
*Collaborate with accountants and business analysts to support the P&L reconciliation process and drive system development (TriplePoint ETRM).
*Contribute to ad hoc tasks to support the Risk team and broader business.
What We’re Looking For:
*Previous experience in physical oil/products market risk - this is a must have!
*Advanced MS Excel skills.
*Familiarity with Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems, especially TriplePoint CXL (desirable).
*A meticulous, analytical approach with strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
*Enthusiasm for driving change and a commitment to delivering results.
*Ability to challenge decisions and ensure transparency across business activities.
