The Role - Data Engineer (DV Cleared)

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role within the client’s Digital & Data community, designing and delivering scalable AWS-based data platforms that enable intelligent decision-making across complex organisations.

The Data Engineer role is based in Manchester, operating on a hybrid model with a minimum of two days per week in the office or on client site, aligned to programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities - Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer, you will: *Design and deploy production-grade data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within modern big data architectures
*Build scalable ETL workflows and data lake solutions using AWS-native services
*Engineer high-performance data processing solutions using Python, Java, Scala, Spark and SQL
*Integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources using APIs, scripting and cloud-native tooling
*Design and build robust AWS cloud data platforms using services such as EMR, Glue, Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda and DynamoDB
*Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design and engineering teams in agile delivery environments
*Participate in live whiteboarding sessions and technical problem-solving workshops
*Contribute to internal engineering initiatives and knowledge-sharing within the wider data community
*Ensure data quality, scalability and resilience across production systems
The Data Engineer will operate in fast-paced, client-facing environments, solving complex data challenges while maintaining engineering best practice.

Key Requirements *You must hold active DV Clearance (UK Developed Vetting)
*Proven experience as a Data Engineer delivering production data pipelines end-to-end
*Strong AWS cloud expertise, particularly across data and analytics services
*Hands-on experience building ETL processes and data lake / warehouse architectures
*Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, Spark and SQL
*Experience processing large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
*Experience extracting and integrating data via APIs and custom scripting
*Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
*Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in agile environments
