Accountabilities (These are the key deliverables, decisions and outcomes of the job)
Technical Leadership & Delivery
· Provide technical leadership for a Capital Markets engineering team, setting coding standards, design patterns, and best
practices
· Lead the design and implementation of solutions across trading workflows, order management, and integrations with
OMS platforms
· Act as the key technical decision-maker for the team, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and strategic
technology direction
· Support the Engineering Manager in delivery of predictable outcomes while owning technical quality and design integrity
Engineering Excellence
· Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, test automation, and cloud-native development
· Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and compliant with regulatory requirements
· Promote engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and technical upskilling within the team
· Balance hands-on development with technical oversight to ensure high-quality delivery
Team Leadership & Mentorship
· Mentor and coach engineers within the team, supporting technical growth and capability building
· Lead design discussions, code reviews, and technical workshops
· Foster a collaborative engineering culture that emphasises continuous learning, innovation, and accountability
· Partner with the Scrum Master to ensure the team balances technical excellence with delivery flow, supporting agile
ways of working
Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership
· Partner directly with front-office and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
· Collaborate with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, and business SMEs to ensure delivery outcomes align with business
priorities
· Provide technical insight into trading workflows, trade lifecycle events, and data flows across Capital Markets systems
· Act as a trusted technical partner to business teams, ensuring solutions deliver tangible value
Cross-team & Organisational Alignment
· Collaborate with other Tech Leads to align solutions and share best practices across the portfolio
· Work with Architecture teams to ensure compliance with enterprise design and security standards
· Support Engineering Managers in team effectiveness and capability building
· Work closely with the Scrum Master to foster team health, agile discipline, and continuous improvement, ensuring that
engineering priorities are supported by effective delivery practices
· Contribute to organisational engineering strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement
Skills
Essential
· Strong technical leadership skills with experience leading development teams in complex financial services environments
· Proven experience integrating with one or more order management systems (OMS platforms) (e.g., Aladdin, Murex,
Charles River, or equivalent enterprise trading systems)
· Deep understanding of capital markets domain with ability to translate trading workflows into technical solutions
· Proficiency in SQL and Python with ability to design and optimise data-intensive applications
· Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and modern data platforms (Snowflake)
· Proven ability to work directly with front-office stakeholders and translate complex business requirements into technical
solutions
· Strong communication and influencing skills, with ability to operate at senior business and technical levels Desirable · Familiarity with agile practices, Team Topologies, and scaled delivery models · Experience with modern engineering practices (CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, automated testing) · Track record of delivering solutions in regulated financial services environments · Experience working across multiple OMS platforms and trading systems

· Deep knowledge of trading workflows, trade lifecycle events, and OMS integration patterns
· Understanding of capital markets data flows, trade settlement, reference data, and portfolio management processes
· Strong understanding of data modelling, data engineering workflows, and integration with front-office platforms
· Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations in capital markets delivery
· Understanding of modern engineering practices, including agile methodologies, DevOps, and cloud-native development
Desirable
· Specific experience with Aladdin, Murex, Charles River or other major OMS platforms
· Familiarity with multiple asset classes such as equities, fixed income, and derivatives
· Understanding of UK regulatory environment and FCA requirements
· Awareness of risk management, portfolio management, and related asset management processes
Experience ( required for the role )
Essential
· Strong background in asset management or investment banking with hands-on delivery of capital markets solutions
· Minimum 3-5 years leading development teams in financial services environments
· Experience with OMS platform integration (any major platform - Aladdin, Murex, Charles River, etc.) and understanding
of trade lifecycle data flows
· Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer leading development teams in financial services
· Experience working directly with business and front-office stakeholders
· Track record of designing and delivering high-quality, scalable technical solutions
· Experience in SQL, Python, Snowflake, and AWS within data-intensive, cloud-based environments
Desirable
· Experience supporting delivery in a regulated financial services organisation
· Background in multi-team delivery environments with complex dependencies
· Experience in both hands-on coding and strategic technical leadership
· Track record of successful stakeholder management across business and technology functions
Qualifications (additional to mandatory)
Essential
· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
