THE POST – Residence Life Coordinator
The university of West of Scotland are recruiting for a Residence Life Coordinator to join the Campus Services team. The post holder will support the Residence Life Manager, (Paisley & Ayr Campus) to promote a positive student living experience within University residences to include the pastoral, behavioural and welfare care of around 600 students in University student accommodation.
The accommodation is made up of a 2 combination of self-catered shared and private flats/studios located on the University’s Paisley and Ayr campuses. The successful applicant will work as part of a team, providing a friendly and professional support service to students living in University accommodation, in order to help them settle into life at UWS and on an ongoing basis throughout their stay. They will assist in developing a culture of community within the residences via a programme of events and activities, addressing student issues using a supportive approach.
The Residence Life Coordinator will be expected to promote a positive community atmosphere within the residences. The role will involve dealing with student queries, wellbeing concerns, and facilitating access to advice and guidance in accordance with the Residence Terms and Conditions and University Regulations. They will also be expected to work closely with University Student Services to ensure an integrated approach to the provision of welfare support and effective referral of disciplinary matters to the appropriate University authorities. During Term 3 the post holder will also be expected to support the Residence Services Managers in Paisley and Ayr to successfully deliver a period of commercial business at each site. For this position we require an individual who can be flexible to the needs of the business and be available to work evenings/weekends.


The successful candidate should have the following:
*Higher National Certificate/SVQ 3 or equivalent relevant qualification or relevant practical experience in a customer service-related discipline with supervisory or duty management experience.
*Experience of working within a customer driven focused environment with excellent customer care skills.
*An understanding of dealing with multiple stakeholders and cross functional departmental communication.
*Effective communicator at all levels and abilities within the organisation and will be able to demonstrate excellent customer-facing skills.
*A working knowledge of helping others and/or working with students/young people.
*A familiarity of general office administration practices.
