An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Construction Senior Associate to join a growing Real Estate and Construction practice within a highly regarded national commercial law firm.
This is a key hire for the Leeds office and offers the chance to play a visible role in the continued expansion of the firm’s northern presence.
The Team
The wider Real Estate and Construction group operates across multiple UK offices and advises a broad client base including household names, multinational corporates and high-growth businesses across sectors such as retail, hospitality, leisure, marketing and large-scale commercial and residential development.
The Construction team has a strong reputation for non-contentious work, alongside a steady stream of advisory and dispute-related matters.
The Role
This position will focus predominantly on non-contentious construction matters, with some exposure to contentious work.
Responsibilities will include:

*Preparing and negotiating collateral warranties, third party rights, performance bonds and parent company guarantees
*Advising on consultant appointments and sub-contracts (both standard industry forms and bespoke documents)
*Supporting real estate colleagues on agreements for lease and licences to alter
*Drafting fit-out contracts, novation agreements, letters of intent and pre-construction services agreements
*Undertaking contract risk reviews for contractors and consultants
*Advising on construction disputes including termination, insolvency, payment issues, extension of time and defects
*Assisting with adjudications and related proceedings
*Drafting and advising on term maintenance agreements
The role offers a mix of standalone construction matters and transactional support work on major developments and occupier projects.
About You
*4+ years’ PQE within a recognised Construction team
*Strong drafting and technical skills
*Commercially minded with sound risk awareness
*Confident managing matters and dealing directly with clients
*Proactive and ambitious
*A collaborative team player

Experience acting for tenants on office relocations or fit-out projects would be advantageous, as would an interest in business development and contributing to the growth of a regional practice.
Why Apply?
*Opportunity to join a nationally recognised practice in growth mode
*High-quality client base and varied sector exposure
*Genuine responsibility and client contact
*Clear scope to contribute to the development of the northern offering
