Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour PAYE or £31.21 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Temp to Perm (13-week probation period)
Hours: 37 hours per week (Shift Pattern)
Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Senior Skilled Vehicle & Plant Technician to join a busy and well-established workshop service in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician / Plant Technician looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential to secure a permanent position after 13 weeks.
This role is primarily focused on plant vehicles and machinery, including ride-on mowers, JCB loaders, agricultural vehicles, trailers, and council fleet equipment. However, flexibility to work on other vehicle types when required is essential.
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a weekly rotating shift basis:
*06:30 – 14:30 Monday to Thursday
*06:30 – 14:00 Friday
*08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday
*08:00 – 15:30 Friday
The Role
This is a specialist position carrying substantial responsibility for ensuring the safety, compliance, and roadworthiness of transport machinery and fleet vehicles. Working predominantly within workshop environments, the role involves physical work in demanding conditions and requires strong technical expertise.
You will work under the direction of a Team Leader or Supervisor and will be expected to demonstrate initiative, problem-solving ability, and innovative thinking when diagnosing and resolving complex faults.
Key Responsibilities
*Carrying out vehicle diagnostics across plant and HGV vehicles
*Completing vehicle servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance
*Conducting LGV safety inspections and roadworthiness checks
*Performing MOT testing (Class 4, 5 and 7) where qualified
*Completing general welding (gas and arc), brazing, and soldering
*Undertaking general engineering and fabrication work
*Repairing trailers and agricultural equipment
*Maintaining compliance with M.O.T. standards and VOSA regulations
*Supporting workshop supervision where required
Essential Requirements
*Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in vehicle or plant maintenance within a multidisciplinary workshop
*Relevant qualification in Plant or Motor Vehicle Technology (NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent)
*VOSA-recognised Certificate for Large Goods Vehicle Safety/Roadworthiness Inspections
*Qualified MOT Inspector or actively training toward MOT qualification
*Thorough knowledge of M.O.T. testing standards and procedures
*Strong technical understanding of vehicle and plant equipment design and specifications
*LGV Category C Driving Licence (Category C+E desirable)
*Experience working with agricultural vehicles and plant machinery
*Previous experience supervising or motivating staff within remit
