Location: Basildon, Essex
Contract: 3–6 Months (Temporary)
Hours: Full-Time – 36.25 Hours per Week (30 hours considered)
Pay Rate: £40.00 per hour (PAYE) | £50.02 per hour (Umbrella)
Seven Resourcing are recruiting for an Electoral Services Manager on behalf of Basildon Borough Council. This is a senior-level local authority elections management role, responsible for leading the delivery of all statutory electoral functions across the borough.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Elections Manager or Electoral Services professional with strong knowledge of electoral law, electoral registration, and Electoral Commission guidance.
The Role
As Electoral Services Manager, you will lead and manage the Electoral Services Team, ensuring the effective delivery of elections and the maintenance of the Register of Electors in full compliance with UK electoral legislation.
You will act as the Council’s technical expert on elections and electoral registration and play a key role in preparing for and delivering the May 2026 Essex County Council elections within Basildon Borough.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead, manage, and support the Electoral Services Team to ensure all statutory duties are met
*Oversee the compilation, maintenance, and supply of the Register of Electors
*Ensure full compliance with electoral legislation and Electoral Commission guidance
*Manage and deliver the Annual Electoral Canvass
*Support the Returning Officer in the planning and delivery of elections
*Lead on Community Governance Reviews and Polling District/Polling Place Reviews
*Provide expert technical advice on electoral law and electoral registration
*Ensure high standards of electoral integrity, accuracy, and data quality
*Work collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders
*Manage workloads effectively to meet strict electoral deadlines
Essential Experience & Skills
*Strong working knowledge of UK electoral law and regulations
*Proven experience delivering elections within a local authority electoral services environment
*Experience maintaining and managing the electoral register
*Demonstrable team leadership and staff management experience
*Excellent organisational and project management skills
*High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*Ability to work under pressure in politically sensitive environments
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
