Payroll Business Partner
*Hourly Rate: PAYE: £14.21, Umbrella: £17.98
*Location: 1 Time Square (Hybrid – typically 2 days office, 3 days WFH; initially office-based)
*Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (37 hours per week)
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Business Partner to join our Corporate Services team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll operations across the Council. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and possesses strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to high-quality service.
Day-to-day of the role:
*End-to-end processing of payroll information to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely delivery.
*Liaising with internal colleagues and external partners to provide effective customer service.
*Administering pension contributions and submitting information to relevant pension providers.
*Ensuring all payroll activities are compliant with HMRC regulations and statutory requirements.
*Preparing and issuing contracts of employment, variation letters, and maintaining accurate personal files.
*Managing and resolving payroll queries promptly and efficiently.
*Validating timesheets, sickness data, and annual leave calculations in line with conditions of service.
*Supporting the development and continual improvement of payroll processes.
*Maintaining strong relationships with pension funds, employees, managers, and third-party payroll partners.
*Using SAP payroll and other IT systems effectively and accurately.
*Providing support to new or junior team members as required.
*Handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience working within a payroll environment.
*Strong practical knowledge of SAP payroll.
*Experience working in a high-volume transactional environment.
*Understanding of PAYE/HMRC regulations.
*Excellent verbal, written, and numerical communication skills.
*Strong IT skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.
*Ability to prioritise workload, manage time effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
*High attention to detail and accuracy.
*Experience delivering customer-focused services.
*Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
