We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary building services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Leeds office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to develop their technical expertise while working on a diverse range of innovative and sustainable projects.

This is a permanent, full-time role operating within a flexible and agile working framework.

The Role
As an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality mechanical building services designs across a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial.

You will be involved at every stage of projects, from concept design through to completion, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities*Work on a wide range of technically challenging projects across multiple sectors
*Participate in all stages of project delivery
*Produce drawings, specifications and technical documentation
*Carry out mechanical design calculations using both manual and software-based methods
*Monitor your own work to ensure quality, programme and budget compliance
*Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and support appropriate solution selection
*Contribute to technical coordination across disciplines
*Attend and represent the business at selected project meetings
*Integrate sustainability principles and low/zero carbon (LZC) technologies into designs
*Undertake site visits and review contractor installations for compliance with design intent
*Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) to stay current with industry developments
*Develop an understanding of electrical systems to support multidisciplinary collaboration

About You*Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND also considered)
*Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in building services design
*Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
*Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
*Awareness of HTMs (desirable but not essential)
*Working towards or holding professional membership (CIBSE, IET or similar)
*Understanding of renewable technologies and sustainable design integration
*Working knowledge of BREEAM
*Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
*Proactive, organised and committed to professional growth
