Job Description:
This business is working through a major supplier data cleanse and needs an Interim Accounts Payable Manager to take charge of the reconciliation work. The role is about bringing order to a complex ledger, guiding the team, and keeping progress on track.
This isn’t about maintaining BAU. It’s about bringing structure, pace and control to a complex ledger while developing a team and raising standards as you go.
Reporting to the Head of Transactional Finance, you’ll lead a team of four AP Reconciliation Assistants responsible for cleansing and reconciling more than 2,000 supplier accounts.
What will you be doing?
*Leading, coaching and supporting a team of four. You’ll be creating clarity around priorities and ensuring consistent, high-quality output
*Overseeing day-to-day reconciliation activity, allocating accounts effectively and removing blockers quickly
*Driving the end-to-end resolution of debit balances, ensuring high-value and high-risk accounts are prioritised
*Reviewing and approving complex reconciliations, reallocations and duplicate vendor clean-down work
*Strengthening supplier master data and leading the build of a structured supplier matrix to support future system design
*Ensuring accurate capture of key supplier information while identifying opportunities to simplify and standardise processes
*Providing clear, concise weekly updates to senior finance leadership, escalating risks early and constructively
*Working closely with the BAU AP function to ensure alignment and maintain operational stability
What do you need?
*Strong Accounts Payable experience with proven team management capability
*Exposure to supplier data cleanse or large-scale reconciliation programmes
*The ability to review complex accounts with confidence and technical credibility
*Organisational discipline and the ability to manage competing priorities across a high-volume environment
*A calm, measured leadership style that builds trust and accountability
*Clear communication skills and the confidence to challenge where required
*Strong Excel capability and comfort working with large datasets
*A proactive mindset focused on control, improvement and long-term sustainability
You’ll be offered a 6-month fixed term contract and an annual salary of up to £50k (depending on experience).
