Job Description:
The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s credit accounts and ensuring the timely collection of outstanding invoices. Working with a long-term and well-established client, the role involves monitoring customer accounts, proactively chasing overdue payments, and maintaining accurate records of all credit control activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing aged debt, resolving invoice queries, and building strong relationships with customers to encourage prompt payment. This position supports the organisation’s overall cash flow by implementing effective credit control procedures, identifying potential credit risks, and working closely with internal teams to resolve any account issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities for a Credit Controller:
*Monitor customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed credit terms
*Chase outstanding invoices via phone, email, and written correspondence
*Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts
*Investigate and resolve invoice queries or disputes
*Produce and review aged debt reports
*Maintain accurate records of all credit control activities
*Work closely with the sales and finance teams to resolve account issues
*Assess and review customer credit limits and payment terms
*Prepare reports on overdue accounts and credit risk
*Escalate serious debt issues where necessary
*Support month-end financial processes where required
Skills and Experience for a Credit Controller:
*Previous experience in a credit control, accounts receivable, or finance role
*Strong communication and negotiation skills
*Good attention to detail and organisational ability
*Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritise workload
*Confident in dealing with customers regarding payment issues
*Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
*Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle disputes professionally
