Job Description:
Are you a passionate SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding new opportunity? Do you have experience teaching KS2-aged pupils with Autism (ASD) and complex needs? Are you seeking a new role starting April 2026 within a supportive and nurturing setting? Academics are currently working in partnership with a specialist SEN school in Colchester, rated "Good" by Ofsted, which is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join their welcoming team on a maternity cover contract from April 2026.
Role Details
Location: SEN School in Colchester Start Date: April 2026 - Permanent role Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, Permanent Salary: M2-UPS3 (dependent on experience) + SEN allowance
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver personalised, engaging lessons tailored to the needs of KS2 pupils with autism and complex needs Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that supports pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff, to ensure consistent and holistic provision
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience in SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs Have experience supporting pupils with autism or learning disabilities, ideally within a KS2 or primary setting If you’re looking for a role where your skills, dedication, and compassion can truly change lives, we would love to hear from you.
