Summary:A growing organisation in the education and public-sector space is seeking a highly motivated Trainee Funding & Bid Consultant to join their expanding team. This role is ideal for a detail-driven graduate looking to start a long-term career in bid writing, tender coordination and project support.
Based in Billericay, this role involves both desk-based work and regular travel to client sites, therefore, a full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Job Overview:As a Trainee Funding & Bid Consultant, you will support schools and other organisations in securing capital funding through various government and specialist funding streams. You will gain structured training in bid development, specification writing, tender preparation and project coordination.This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong written communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will work with internal teams, external consultants and educational clients to gather information, prepare documentation and support the creation of high-quality, compliant funding submissions.
Key activities include:
*Gathering, reviewing and selecting key information for funding applications
*Coordinating internal and external stakeholders
*Writing clear, compelling responses and project descriptions
*Preparing tender packs and technical documentation
*Supporting site visits and surveys with specialists
*Ensuring all bid documentation is accurate, well-structured and submitted on time
*Using templates and guidance notes to prepare robust application packages

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
*Visit educational sites to identify funding opportunities and support initial assessments
*Prepare proposals for prospective clients
*Carry out photographic surveys and produce condition reports
*Manage communication with clients, surveyors, contractors and design teams
*Coordinate the collection of documentation, drawings and scope of works
*Prepare tender documentation using established templates
*Liaise with contractors and monitor tender progress
*Compile, compress and organise documents to meet portal submission requirements
*Complete application forms on relevant government bidding portals
*Assist wider internal teams as needed

Essential Skills & Traits:
*Degree qualified (any discipline considered; strong written English essential)
*Exceptional attention to detail, grammar accuracy and document presentation
*Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple projects simultaneously
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
*Highly organised with excellent coordination and multitasking abilities
*Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
*Confident liaising with clients and external teams
*Full UK driving licence and access to a car (site visits required)
