Accounts Assistant
Our client is looking for an Accounts Assistant with proven experience in a comparable finance role to join a well-established, international membership organisation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented and organised professional to join a purpose-driven organisation, supporting day-to-day finance and administrative operations while working closely with internal teams and international stakeholders.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on position where you will play a key part in supporting core finance functions and wider administrative operations. Reporting to the Senior Finance and Operations Manager, responsibilities will include:
Accurately coding and processing invoices in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
Inputting financial data into the accounting system with a high level of accuracy
Updating and maintaining Purchase and Sales Ledgers
Reviewing and processing employee expense claims, verifying adherence to company policies
Raising invoices and managing debtor accounts, following up on outstanding payments and resolving discrepancies
Reconciling bank statements and control accounts, identifying and rectifying discrepancies
Communicating with external parties to resolve financial queries
Preparing and setting up payment runs
Assisting with the monthly management accounts process
Supporting the year-end audit process
Managing shared finance inboxes and providing administrative support to the Senior Finance and Operations Manager
Assisting in maintaining an organised and efficient office environment
Dealing with ad hoc finance and administrative requests as required
This role offers exposure to international operations and the opportunity to contribute to multiple affiliated organisations within a collaborative and evolving structure. Currently offered on a part-time basis, there is scope for the position to develop into a full-time role with additional responsibilities over time.
The Ideal Candidate
Proven experience in a similar Accounts Assistant or finance support role
Solid understanding of basic financial principles; AAT qualification (completed or in progress) or similar is advantageous
Previous experience using accounting software; knowledge of Xero is beneficial
Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail
Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and develop
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (including formulas and pivot tables)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
