Based in or around Reading/Bracknell
Reporting to: Regional Manager

We are seeking a versatile and proactive Relief Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be the "right hand" to the Regional Manager, providing essential leadership and operational support across various stores within the region.
No two days are the same. Whether you are stepping in to lead a team during a Manager’s absence or driving sales growth through local marketing, you will be the glue that ensures our stores remain compliant, profitable, and customer-focused.
The Role
As a Relief Manager, your mission is to sustain high performance across the region. You will ensure every store you touch meets our gold standards in customer service, financial control, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Cover: Act as the primary key holder, opening and closing stores and leading teams during staff absences.
* Drive Revenue: Actively work to hit sales and profit targets in line with individual store business plans.
* Operational Compliance: Maintain rigorous standards in financial controls, Health & Safety, housekeeping, and maintenance.
* Marketing & Growth: Take a "boots on the ground" approach to marketing, including leaflet drops, business-to-business visits, and building promotional relationships.
* Competitor Intelligence: Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring local competitor activity and reporting insights to the Regional Manager.
* Financial Excellence: Manage cash handling, banking, and accounting procedures using our "Black Book" and "6 of the Best" minimum standards.

* Adaptability: Someone who can walk into a new environment and immediately command respect and maintain standards.
* Sales Focus: A proven track record of achieving budgets and following up on written quotations.
* Reliability: A trusted key holder who is comfortable with the responsibility of opening/closing units.
* Communication: Ability to develop strong relationships with staff, local businesses, and regional leadership.
* Proactive Mindset: You don’t wait for tasks; you identify ad-hoc needs and address them.
