Overview
An independent mental health hospital in Essex is seeking an experienced Locum Dietitian to join their multidisciplinary team supporting adults with complex mental health conditions, including eating disorders.
The service provides specialist inpatient care within a therapeutic and recovery-focused environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients through nutritional rehabilitation as part of a holistic treatment plan.
Working alongside psychiatrists, therapists, nurses and other allied health professionals, the Dietitian will deliver specialist nutritional assessments, treatment planning and patient education to support recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients with eating disorders and other complex mental health conditions.
Develop and implement individualised nutritional care plans and structured meal programmes.
Provide nutrition education and counselling to patients and, where appropriate, families and carers.
Support behavioural change and promote healthy eating patterns and relapse prevention strategies.
Monitor patient progress and adjust nutritional interventions as required.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional standards.
Contribute to MDT reviews and discharge planning.
Essential Requirements
HCPC Registration as a Dietitian.
Previous experience working within clinical dietetics.
Strong understanding of nutritional assessment and meal planning for complex patient groups.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Excellent communication and patient engagement skills.
Desirable
Experience working within mental health or eating disorder services.
Previous inpatient or hospital-based experience.
