Service Charge Accountant
Location – Manchester
£35k – £40k
Excellent bonus

The role: support the preparation, management, administration and reconciliation of service charge accounts across a portfolio of commercial & mixed-use properties. The role will be responsible for ensuring service charges are accurate, transparent, compliant, and delivered within statutory and reporting deadlines.
The successful candidate will be methodical, motivated, flexible, and adaptable, with a strong desire to build a long-term career within an established and continually growing company
Duties:
*Produce accurate year-end service charge reconciliations, including accruals, prepayments, journals, and full supporting backup.
*With the support of the Property Managers, ensure expenditure is correctly scheduled, coded, allocated, and compliant with lease terms and calculated in accordance with service charge caps.
*Liaise with Property Managers to forecast costs, and monitor cash flow.
*Completing cash reconciliations as required.
*Respond to tenant and consultant queries, providing clear variance analysis and financial explanations.
*Support external audit processes and maintain robust financial controls and audit trails.
*Support where required with statutory and reporting compliance.
*Raise utility recharges and ad hoc invoices to tenants and landlords.
*Carry out ad hoc duties within the property accounts/property management team.
*Willingness to assist where required with service charge handovers to/from external agents on acquisitions & disposals.
Requirements:
*2-5 years’ experience in commercial service charge accounting.
*Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
*Experience preparing full-year budgets and reconciliations (including cash reconciliations).
*Strong Excel – understanding formulae and formatting
*Good personality with a strong work ethic.
