Job Description:
The business -
Our client is a respected and long-established chartered accountancy practice based in the heart of a historic Cambridgeshire town. Their charming offices are positioned moments from public transport links, with excellent access across the county — and staff benefit from on-site parking.
Highly regarded both in the local community and across the profession, the firm has built a loyal and ever-growing client base due to its exceptional service standards and technical expertise. As the practice continues to expand, they are now looking to strengthen their offering with the appointment of an experienced Company Secretary.
The Opportunity
This is a key technical role, responsible for delivering high-quality company secretarial services in line with the Companies Act 2006 and UK regulatory requirements.
You will manage your own portfolio of clients, acting as the main contact for all company secretarial matters, and providing a proactive, compliant, and well-organised service. While working independently day-to-day, you will also collaborate closely with the wider accounts and tax teams.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide a full suite of company secretarial support, including:
*Preparing and filing Confirmation Statements and Companies House forms such as CH02, TM01, SH01
*Maintaining statutory registers (PSC, directors, shareholders)
*Managing Ltd and LLP incorporations, advising clients on structure and legal requirements
*Drafting board minutes, resolutions, and dividend documentation
*Processing changes to officers, share capital, shareholders, and registered office
*Supporting share allotments, transfers, and basic reorganisations
*Assisting with AML checks, client onboarding, and ongoing due diligence
*Handling disengagements, professional clearance, and client record updates
*Supporting billing cycles, fee renewals, and engagement letters
*Liaising with accountants, tax specialists, solicitors, and banks as required
About You
This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, technical company secretarial work, and building strong client relationships.
Required skills and experience include:
*2–3 years’ company secretarial experience, ideally within a UK accountancy practice or similar professional services environment
*Solid working knowledge of the Companies Act 2006
*Experience using Companies House WebFiling and/or secretarial software (e.g. CCH)
*Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines
*Excellent attention to detail
*Clear, concise, and professional written communication
Benefits & Rewards
In return, you will receive an attractive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including:
*Free on-site parking
*Hybrid working
*Subsidised private healthcare
*Pension scheme
*Extensive mental health & wellbeing support
*A friendly, supportive team culture
*Opportunities for long-term development within a highly reputable practice
