*Taking full accountability for the sales ledger and debtor performance, including month-end reporting on aged debt
*Overseeing daily cash postings, payment allocations, and carrying out regular bank reconciliations relating to accounts receivable
*Actively pursuing outstanding balances through phone, email, collaboration with sales teams, and formal escalation where necessary
*Managing structured payment arrangements and coordinating the escalation of unresolved debts to legal representatives
*Conducting credit checks using external platforms (e.g. Credit Safe, Companies House) to evaluate financial standing
*Maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer account records, including reviewing and approving new credit applications
*Performing reconciliations across multiple systems to ensure the integrity and accuracy of debtor data
*Partnering closely with sales and account management teams to resolve disputes and support effective customer communication
*Assisting the Head of Finance with reporting requirements and broader sales ledger oversight

This is a hands-on role requiring someone comfortable operating both strategically and operationally.

The Ideal Candidate:
*Minimum 3 years’ experience within a credit control function, ready to step into a leadership role or ideally already in at least a supervisory role.
*Strong understanding of credit risk, debtor management and AR processes
*Confident communicator with the ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally
*Calm, persistent and solutions-focused, with the ability to manage challenging conversations
*Strong Excel and systems skills
*Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
*Must have the right to work in the UK
What’s on Offer:
*£40,000–£45,000 depending on experience
*Permanent, full-time position
*Hybrid working model (2 days in the office)
*25 days holiday plus bank holidays
*Pension scheme
