About the Role
Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Ipswich North East Social Care Team. This is a key role within the service, supporting children, young people, and families through high-quality assessments and effective safeguarding interventions.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will also play an essential role in supporting the Team Manager with staff supervision, case oversight, and practice development-so previous supervisory experience is required.
The role operates on a hybrid working model, with three days per week based in the office at Beacon House, providing structured support and collaboration with the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
*Undertake statutory assessments under Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection).
*Contribute to and lead on Child in Need (CIN) plans and Child Protection (CP) planning.
*Provide supervision, support, and oversight to social work staff as delegated by the Team Manager.
*Offer guidance on complex cases and contribute to quality assurance of practice.
*Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.
*Maintain robust and timely case recording, meeting statutory timescales and service standards.
Skills
*Qualified Social Worker
*Registration with Social Work England
*Strong background in statutory children’s services
*Proven experience in supervision or senior-level responsibilities
*Excellent assessment, safeguarding, and report-writing skills
*Ability to work within a fast-paced, supportive team environment
