Via is working with a well-established organisation to find a Credit Controller who can take real ownership of a customer ledger and play a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow across the business.
This is a high-visibility role within the finance team, where your work directly impacts business performance. You will manage your own portfolio of accounts, build strong relationships with customers, and take a proactive approach to resolving payment issues before they escalate.

The role
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring invoices are collected in line with agreed payment terms while maintaining strong and professional customer relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
*Managing a high-volume customer ledger and ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances
*Contacting customers by phone and email to follow up overdue invoices
*Building strong customer relationships to resolve payment issues quickly and professionally
*Investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies with internal teams
*Reconciling customer statements and maintaining accurate account records
*Updating credit control systems with collection activity and account notes
*Processing card payments and setting up direct debit mandates where required
*Providing customers with statements and copy invoices when requested
*Escalating potential risks or payment concerns where appropriate
*Supporting the finance team in reducing aged debt and protecting cash flow
About you
You will already have experience in credit control or accounts receivable and be confident managing your own ledger in a busy environment.
You will likely bring:
At least 2 years’ experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role
*Experience managing a high-volume customer ledger
*Confidence communicating with customers by phone and email
*Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
*Experience handling reconciliations and resolving account queries
*A proactive approach and the confidence to manage difficult conversations when required
Experience with systems such as Sage, AMCS, Credit Hound or Sage CRM would be beneficial, though it is not essential.
Additional experience that would be advantageous
*ICM Level 3 qualification (or currently studying towards it)
*Experience using procurement portals such as ProActis, Tradex or Dwellant
*Strong Microsoft Excel skills
