Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive and inclusive school in Oldham that is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support four pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour, including two non-verbal students.
This is a full-time, long-term role, with the goal of gradually increasing pupils’ engagement and helping transition them from part-time to full-time education.
About the Role*Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs

*Assist in delivering tailored learning and behaviour support strategies

*Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans

*Help maintain a structured, calm, and supportive classroom environment

*Encourage pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development

The Ideal Candidate Will Have*Experience supporting children with special educational needs and/or challenging behaviour

*Confidence working with non-verbal pupils and knowledge of alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton (desirable)

*Strong behaviour management skills with a calm and consistent approach

*A compassionate, resilient, and adaptable attitude

*Excellent teamwork and communication skills
