Job Description:
Are you a payroll professional who enjoys getting into the detail? Do you thrive in environments where accuracy, technical knowledge, and problem-solving are valued? My client is looking for a confident and inquisitive Payroll Executive who is ready to take ownership of complex payroll challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong manual payroll processing knowledge and pensions expertise who enjoys understanding how payroll works behind the scenes and is confident handling the technical aspects others may shy away from.
The Role
You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and compliant processing of payroll while supporting the wider team with complex queries and technical payroll requirements. This role requires a hands-on professional who enjoys investigating issues, improving processes, and ensuring payroll runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
*End-to-end payroll processing with a strong focus on manual calculations and technical payroll accuracy
*Managing and validating statutory deductions, including tax, National Insurance, and statutory payments
*Administering and reconciling workplace pension schemes, including auto-enrolment duties, contributions, and pension submissions
*Investigating and resolving complex payroll queries from employees, HR, and finance teams
*Reviewing payroll outputs to ensure compliance with current UK payroll legislation
*Managing adjustments including retro payments, underpayments, and corrections
*Supporting with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and audit requirements
*Working closely with internal teams to ensure payroll data integrity and process efficiency
*Identifying areas for improvement and contributing to ongoing payroll process enhancements
About You
We are looking for someone who is not just experienced in payroll processing but genuinely curious about how payroll works.
You will be:
*Experienced in manual payroll calculations
*Knowledgeable in pensions administration and auto-enrolment processes
*Technically strong with a solid understanding of UK payroll legislation
*Naturally inquisitive, with the confidence to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues
*Hands-on and proactive, happy to get involved in complex payroll challenges
*Confident and approachable, able to support colleagues and communicate clearly
*Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
This role is perfect for a payroll professional who enjoys the technical side of payroll and wants to be part of a team where their expertise and curiosity are valued. If you enjoy solving payroll puzzles and ensuring everything runs with precision, we would love to hear from you.
