Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-focused Contracts Advisor to support the commercial, operational, and management teams across a busy offshore services organisation. The role involves managing the full contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and enabling the business to operate efficiently and profitably.
This position is ideal for someone who is confident working with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while maintaining a strong grasp of contractual obligations, commercial terms, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management & Review
*Draft, review, and negotiate client and supplier contracts, MSAs, NDAs, purchase agreements, and project-specific terms.
*Ensure contracts align with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
*Assess contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
*Maintain version control and ensure accurate documentation throughout contract lifecycles.
Commercial & Project Support
*Provide commercial guidance to project managers and operational teams during bidding, mobilisation, and execution stages.
*Support tender submissions by reviewing terms, producing clarifications, and advising on commercial exposure.
*Monitor contract performance, obligations, and deliverables to ensure full compliance.
Risk & Compliance
*Identify commercial and legal risks across agreements and advise stakeholders on implications.
*Support compliance with relevant offshore, subsea, and marine regulations as applicable to the business.
*Contribute to internal audits and quality assurance processes relating to contracting procedures.
Stakeholder Engagement
*Work closely with internal departments including Operations, Finance, Procurement, QHSE, and Senior Leadership.
*Serve as a point of contact for client contract teams regarding negotiation, queries, and amendments.
*Build positive working relationships with external service providers and legal advisors.
Administration & Reporting
*Maintain the contract register and ensure accurate data entry and document storage.
*Prepare internal reports on contract status, risks, approvals, and obligations.
*Support continuous improvement of contract management processes, templates, and systems.
Skills & Experience Required
*Experience in a commercial, contracts, or legal support role—ideally within offshore, subsea, marine, energy, or technical engineering sectors.
*Strong understanding of contractual language, commercial terms, and risk management principles.
*Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
*High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
*Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and support multiple concurrent projects.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with contract management systems is beneficial.
Qualifications
*Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Law, Contracts, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (preferred).
*Relevant industry certifications or training in contract law or commercial management are advantageous.
Personal Attributes
*Professional, confidential, and trustworthy in handling sensitive commercial information.
*Solution-oriented, pragmatic, and able to balance commercial opportunity with risk awareness.
*Strong problem-solver with the ability to interpret complex information clearly.
*Collaborative and supportive team player.
