Job Description:
Our client, a prestigious Cambridge-based organisation, is seeking a Deputy Development Director on a full-time basis.
Main duties include:
*Lead and manage major gift fundraising, overseeing a portfolio of 100–150 donors, with a focus on securing five- and six-figure gifts and legacies
*Support the growth of regular giving and legacy programmes, working closely with senior development leadership
*Cultivate and steward donor relationships through meetings, events, correspondence, and personalised engagement
*Oversee the production of stewardship communications, including impact reports, magazines, and donor recognition initiatives
*Line manage development staff, including performance reviews, mentoring, and professional development
*Supervise gift processing, financial reporting, and compliance with fundraising protocols, GDPR, and organisational policies
*Contribute to strategic planning for philanthropy and alumni engagement, including campaign planning, prospect segmentation, and pipeline oversight
*Represent the organisation at internal and external committees, events, and working groups
The successful candidate:
*Proven experience in senior philanthropy roles, including major gift fundraising and team leadership
*Track record of securing high-value gifts and managing a comprehensive fundraising programme
*Strong experience in donor stewardship, legacy marketing, and tax-efficient giving
*Confident relationship-builder, able to engage donors, volunteers, and stakeholders at all levels
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and hosting abilities
*Familiarity with fundraising CRMs (preferably Raisers’ Edge) and data-driven reporting
*Educated to degree level or equivalent
*Highly organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure
