Job Description:
Credit Controller, Barnsley
We are currently supporting a well-established manufacturing business in their search for an experienced Credit Controller to join their busy finance team. This is a key role within the department, taking ownership of the credit control function and playing an important part in maintaining strong cashflow and accurate ledger management.
This position would suit someone who is organised, proactive and confident managing a high-volume ledger within a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Managing the overall debtor position and maintaining accurate sales and retention ledgers
*Preparing monthly cashflow forecasts using live ledger data
*Allocating incoming payments and posting invoices within the accounting system
*Raising and monitoring applications for payment (CIS)
*Using effective credit control techniques to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances
*Liaising with clients, internal finance teams, contracts teams and sales to resolve invoice queries and confirm contract details
*Producing monthly statements, maintaining accurate records and escalating overdue balances where necessary
*Supporting monthly reporting and contributing to ongoing improvements within the finance function
About you:
*Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a credit control or sales ledger position
*Previous experience working with accounting systems
*Knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) would be advantageous
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
*High level of accuracy and attention to detail
*Confident using Microsoft Excel and Word
*A proactive approach with a commercial mindset and a desire to improve processes
You will be someone who is confident communicating with stakeholders, comfortable handling difficult conversations when required, and able to work collaboratively within a wider finance team.
