Job Description:
We are recruiting for a well-established, financially secure manufacturing business operating within the wood-based production sector. The company holds a strong order book and operates from a modern facility with a close-knit shop floor team.
This is a hands-on Factory Supervisor role focused on raising and maintaining practical working standards within a small production team. It is a working supervisory role suited to someone who enjoys being on the machines, keeping jobs flowing, setting a professional tone on the shop floor, and ensuring work leaves the factory ’right first time’.
The Role
You will take jobs from cutting list and drawing through to final palletisation and despatch. Duties will include:
*Operating and overseeing the panel saws and drilling machinery
*Managing workflow across cutting, edging, drilling and finishing processes
*Ensuring jobs move through the factory efficiently without unnecessary waiting time
*Maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping and organisation
*Supervising a small team on the shop floor
*Supporting safe working practices and consistent use of PPE
*Identifying simple, practical ways to keep machines and people productive
The business is keen to reduce standing time around key machinery and improve the order in which work is processed. Experience in sequencing / planning the order of jobs so that machines and people are not left waiting will be highly valued.
About You
Essential
*Experience in a joinery, carpentry, fitted furniture, cabinetry, panel processing or similar wood-based manufacturing environment
*Confident operating panel saws and drilling machinery in a production setting
*Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity, much of the time
*Experience working within a small team environment
*A professional approach with the ability to set and uphold clear, practical working standards
Desirable
*Experience supervising or leading a small workshop team
*Exposure to kitchen, bedroom, fitted furniture, shopfitting or modular interiors manufacturing
*A practical mindset for improving workflow and reducing downtime without overcomplicating processes
The Environment
This is a relaxed but professional workplace built on trust, accountability and mutual respect. Employees are given autonomy and flexibility, but in return there is an expectation of consistency, reliability and high working standards. The company is financially stable and growing steadily. The successful candidate will be supported but expected to take ownership of the shop floor, uphold standards, and ensure work leaves on time and in good order.
Package
*Salary in the £35,000 to £39,000 range
*Structured bonus scheme with realistic c. £6,000 annual potential
*Pension scheme
*Stable long-term opportunity within a secure and expanding business
This role would suit someone currently working as a Workshop Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Senior Joiner, or Lead Operator in a kitchen, bedroom, furniture, or joinery manufacturing environment who is looking for a stable, well-run operation where they can make a genuine impact.
If you are hands-on, organised, and take pride in professional standards within a small team environment, we would like to hear from you.
