Job Description:
Department: Centre Of Academic Excellence
Location: Bow Road, London - On-site
Salary: £51,000 - £55,000

ROLE PURPOSE:
To deliver high-quality teaching observation, coaching, and pedagogic enhancement activities, supporting lecturers to improve their teaching practice and student outcomes. Practitioners will provide constructive feedback, share best practice, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and academic excellence
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Conduct scheduled teaching observations and provide timely, constructive feedback to lecturers.
*Co-teach parts of sessions with lecturers as part of targeted coaching interventions, including lesson planning, delivery, and debriefing.
*Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the teaching observation and feedback system.
*Identify and share best practice in teaching, learning, and assessment.
*Maintain accurate records of observations, coaching, and outcomes.
*Respond to staff development needs identified through observation data and institutional KPIs.
*Collaborate with the Lead and other Practitioners to ensure consistency and quality in enhancement activities.
*Foster a positive, ethical, and inclusive culture, modelling honesty in feedback, attention to detail, and a focus on deadlines and impact.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
*Recognised teaching qualification.
*Experience in teaching observation, coaching, or academic staff development in higher education.
*Strong knowledge of contemporary pedagogic practice and inclusive education.
*Excellent communication, facilitation, and feedback skills.
*Ability to adapt coaching to meet the needs of diverse lecturers and contexts.
*Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
*Commitment to ethical practice, inclusivity, and continuous professional development.
DESIRABLE SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
*Experience supporting staff with HEA Fellowship or similar professional recognition.
*Experience integrating digital technologies and innovative practices into teaching enhancement.
*Experience responding to quality assurance or regulatory requirements.
