Purchase Ledger and Sage Line 50
Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 (pro rata if part-time)
Location: Southwest London
Working Arrangement: Office-based
Hours: Full-time 9:00am – 5:30pm or Part-time 10:00am – 3:00pm (5 days per week)
An established and expanding design and construction business based in Southwest London is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Specialist who is well versed with Sage Line 50 to oversee and manage the purchase ledger process from start to finish. This permanent role can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the candidate’s preference.

You will be working from modern offices in Southwest London, conveniently located close to transport links and local amenities, with parking available nearby. This position would suit someone who enjoys managing their own workload and taking responsibility for the entire purchase ledger cycle.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you will become the primary point of contact for all purchase ledger activities, liaising regularly with project buyers, subcontractors and the wider team to ensure invoices, payments and supplier records are handled efficiently and accurately.
Candidates should ideally live within a reasonable commuting distance of Southwest London.
The role is available for an immediate start, although the company can accommodate notice periods where required. The recruitment process will involve two interview stages.
Key Responsibilities
*Oversee the shared finance inbox, responding to supplier queries and processing invoices in a timely manner.
*Record supplier invoices and credit notes against authorised purchase orders within Sage Line 50.
*Process equipment hire invoices in accordance with internal procedures.
*Enter and reconcile company credit card receipts, following up with staff where documentation is missing.
*Carry out monthly credit card reconciliations.
*Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any differences or discrepancies.
*Prepare and manage monthly supplier payment runs, including occasional ad-hoc payments.
*Send remittance advice to suppliers once payments have been processed.
*Work closely with project buyers to resolve invoice issues or discrepancies.
*Maintain and update bi-weekly labour allocation spreadsheets and ensure transactions are correctly posted into Sage.
*Process subcontractor invoices, including those subject to CIS deductions.
*Record and process company expense claims within Sage Line 50.
*Act as the first point of contact for incoming telephone calls and general office enquiries.
*Manage incoming post and ensure financial documents are distributed and processed appropriately.
Sage Line 50 Knowledge
*The successful candidate should have strong experience using Sage Line 50, including:
*System configuration such as Nominal Ledger setup, Chart of Accounts and VAT configuration (including Making Tax Digital compliance).
*Managing supplier invoices, processing payments and completing bank reconciliations.
*Working with stock control, Bill of Materials (BOM) and foreign currency transactions where required.
*Troubleshooting system issues, data corrections and producing tailored reports.
*Sage certification (Levels 1–3) would be beneficial but is not essential.
Skills and Experience
*Demonstrated experience managing a Purchase Ledger function from start to finish.
*Advanced working knowledge of Sage Line 50.
*Understanding of CIS processes is desirable.
*Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
*Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to strict deadlines.
*Confident communicator with a proactive, organised approach to work.
