Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Hybrid Azure & Networking)
Central Bristol | Hybrid (2-3 days a week on site)
Package: £60,000 - £70,000 + up to 15% bonus + profit share scheme
Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys team leadership?
This is an opportunity to join a 6-person IT Operations team responsible for a hybrid infrastructure environment spanning Azure, networking, and on-prem virtual platforms.
You will work closely with the Team Manager, owning BAU coordination, and acting as the senior escalation point for the team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support the Team Manager with technical leadership across the team
· Take ownership of BAU task management, stand-ups, and delivery deadlines
· Act as the escalation point for P1 incidents and technical blockers
· Communicate confidently with engineers and senior leadership, translating technical detail into business language
· Reduce operational workload from the manager while escalating strategically when required
· Support Microsoft 365, Azure IaaS/PaaS, Teams, Exchange Online, and integrated SaaS platforms
· Manage hybrid infrastructure including Azure and on-prem VMware
· Own networking across Azure and on-prem (VNets, routing, firewalls, hybrid connectivity)
· Support SD-WAN and Extreme Networks (Wi-Fi and cloud-managed switches)
· Operate within ITIL and structured Change Management frameworks
What You’ll Bring:
· Experience providing technical leadership within an infrastructure or operations team, including coordinating workload and acting as a senior escalation point.
· Strong experience across Microsoft 365 and Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
· Experience managing hybrid environments (Azure + VMware + physical networking)
· Solid networking knowledge (firewalls, routing, hybrid connectivity into Azure)
· Familiarity with ITIL / IT Service Management practices
· Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell and/or Terraform)
· Understanding of security solutions and access controls
