Your new company
An established environmental consultancy is seeking a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Consultant to join its growing Manchester team. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the delivery of BNG across a range of dynamic and meaningful projects. This position offers the opportunity to contribute from early feasibility through to post development monitoring, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse clients.

Your new role
The main responsibilities of this role include:


*Supporting a portfolio of varied and complex projects from concept to completion
*Undertaking fieldwork, including small and large-scale habitat surveys using UKHab methodology
*Completing habitat condition assessments and on-site mapping
*Producing written BNG feasibility reports and design-stage assessments
*Creating 30-year site-specific habitat management and monitoring plans
*Collaborating with internal teams (e.g., landscape architecture, arboriculture) and external consultants
*Advising clients and contributing to workshops and presentations
*Updating project documentation in response to design changes or consultee feedback
*Supporting effective project delivery through strong planning and coordination
*Assisting with wider ecology team tasks and resource planning as needed

What you’ll need to succeed
*1-2 years’ experience delivering Biodiversity Net Gain assessments
*Strong understanding of the Biodiversity Metric, BNG policy, and related guidance
*Degree in ecology or a related environmental discipline
*Competent in UKHab field survey methodology
*Experience carrying out ecological field surveys with accurate data recording
*Ability to produce clear, concise, and technically robust written reports
*Understanding of habitat management principles and conservation planning
*Excellent organisational and time management skills, particularly when working to deadlines
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with clients and colleagues
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office
*Enthusiastic, flexible, and committed to continual professional development
*Full UK driving licence
*Willingness to work outside standard hours and travel when required
