Junior Mechanical Service Engineer
Location: Wirral / Merseyside (UK & International Travel Required)
Salary: £32,000 to £38,000 + overtime
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
A well-established engineering business on the Wirral is seeking a mechanically biased Technical Service Engineer to join its expanding team. The company designs, builds, installs, and services advanced process and treatment systems for customers across the UK and Europe. With an exceptional culture and a strong track record of internal progression, engineers who join the team often advance rapidly into senior roles.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position combining workshop-based assembly and testing with on-site installation, commissioning, and servicing.
Key responsibilities include:
*Mechanical assembly and testing of equipment within the UK workshop
*Installing, commissioning, and servicing systems at customer sites across the UK and Europe
*Mechanical fault finding, planned maintenance and repairs (hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, etc)
*Supporting electrical work as required (training provided)
*Maintaining clear and accurate service documentation
*Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
*Providing excellent technical support, both on-site and remotely
Mechanical Role With Electrical Development
While this position is mechanically led, the company offers outstanding training and development opportunities. You will have the chance to learn and work with:
*Electrical control systems
*PLCs
*HMIs
*System wiring and commissioning
There is no expectation for the successful candidate to have prior experience with controls, PLCs or HMIs - just a willingness to learn.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
*A time-served Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical qualification
*Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors or similar mechanical systems
*Confidence reading engineering drawings and troubleshooting
*A proactive, customer-focused and safety-conscious approach
*Computer literacy
*IPAF and CSCS cards (desirable but not essential)
