You will be joining a commercially focused organisation where the Commercial function plays a key role in enabling strategic objectives. The team ensures all spend meets statutory and government requirements, while driving procurement, commercial governance, commercial risk management and the development of commercial opportunities.

Your new role
As Commercial Lead, you will oversee some of the organisation’s most complex and high-risk commercial programmes within the Operations category. You will design and deliver commercial strategies for programmes exceeding £5m, using advanced procurement methods such as Competitive Flexible Procedure and Covered Procurements. Your work will span early market engagement, commercial option development, the creation of Commercial and Economic cases, negotiation, supplier selection and the drafting of robust commercial contracts. You will manage supplier relationships, represent senior Commercial leadership at key forums, and play a significant role in developing commercial capability across the team through mentoring and training.
What you’ll need to succeed
To excel, you will bring MCIPS, extensive public-sector experience and a proven ability to lead complex commercial undertakings. You will have strong knowledge of procurement law, especially PCR 2015 and PA 2023, and experience managing full contract lifecycles across varied categories. Strong stakeholder management, excellent communication and analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. You will also demonstrate leadership capability, experience mentoring colleagues and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
