Payroll & Finance Exec - Job Description
Location: Chester
Salary: Up to £13.50 per hour
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:30pm
Some later working may be required on Wednesdays/Thursdays - time will be given back.
Overview
We are looking for a proactive and highly accurate Payroll & Finance Executive to join our client’s team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with numbers, and can handle a range of payroll and finance administration tasks with confidence and efficiency. This position offers hybrid working once fully trained, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Reporting
*Raise invoices accurately and in a timely manner
*Prepare hours using Excel
*Import payroll data and key payroll information into internal systems
*Resolve payroll queries and provide clear communication to stakeholders
*Liaise with external agencies as required
*Extract payroll system reports and perform balancing checks
*Complete payroll reconciliations
*Support HMRC reporting, administration, and reconciliation
*Produce Excel reports for various internal departments
Finance Administration
*Update purchase ledger information
*Complete debtor ledger reconciliations
*Update QuickBooks with payments
*Complete bank reconciliations within QuickBooks
*Assist with administration for VAT return preparation
*Provide general ad-hoc administrative support as needed
Skills & Experience Required
*Strong ability to work with speed and accuracy
*Reliable and self-motivated, with a proactive approach
*Comfortable in a busy, fast-paced environment, working to tight deadlines
*A strong team player with good communication skills
*Advanced Excel knowledge, including formulas and formatting
*Knowledge of QuickBooks (desirable but not essential)
*Payroll or umbrella payroll knowledge (desirable but not essential)
Working Pattern
*4-day week, Monday to Thursday
*Standard hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm
*Potential later hours mid-week; time off in lieu provided
*Hybrid working once trained: minimum 2 office days per week, remainder from home
