Job Role: Plant fitter - Workshop Based
Location: Wellingborough
Basic Salary: £45,000 + Overtime - Yearly earnings of £50,000 - £55,000
Working ours: 07:00 - 17:00 - Monday - Friday


My client is a major player within the construction machinery sector. They are currently looking to add a new workshop based Plant Fitter to their growing team at their depot located in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.


Key Responsibilities*Carry out PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on new machines and fit additional parts and attachments as required.
*Investigate, diagnose and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
*Perform general engineering duties, including working at height and beneath/within machines.
*Repair and maintain machinery using company-supplied lifting equipment.
*Drive and manoeuvre machines inside and outside of the workshop.
*Service a wide variety of machines within the workshop environment.
*Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
*Complete job cards to a high standard within agreed timeframes.
*Complete all paperwork and timesheets accurately and promptly.
*Request parts efficiently and effectively.
*Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
*Supervise other workshop engineers when required, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safe working practices.
*Provide cover for the Foreman during absence or annual leave.
*Assist with booking machines in and out of the workshop.
*Ensure machines are prepared and ready for transport/collection.
*Follow all relevant procedures when repairing and inspecting equipment.
*Ensure work and personal equipment complies with all safety standards.
*Manage warranty parts returns in line with company procedures.
*Comply with all company policies and procedures.
*Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy.
*Contribute to the overall success of the business through teamwork and effective communication.
*Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping within the workshop.
*Present a professional image at all times.
*Ensure personal tools are safe and compliant for use.
*Use only company-supplied lifting equipment (including straps, trolley jacks, etc.).
*Remain flexible and adaptable to all aspects of the role.
Essential Requirements
*City & Guilds Level 2 in Plant Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
*OR recent hands-on experience working as a Plant Fitter
*Solid mechanical knowledge across diesel, hydraulics, and electrical systems
*Full UK driving licence
*Good problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
