Job Description:
Are you an experienced finance manager looking for your next interim contract? This role is central to ensuring the smooth running of financial operations, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting strong financial governance across the organisation.
Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, overseeing core processes, and supporting systems that manage grants, donations and investment funds. Key Responsibilities Financial Processing and Reporting
* Record and reconcile financial transactions within Xero up to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Complete monthly reconciliations including bank accounts and control accounts.
* Prepare journals including accruals and prepayments.
* Produce monthly management accounts and assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements.
* Support the external audit process and contribute to the preparation of the annual Trustee report.
Systems and Data Management
* Oversee the integration between the organisation’s CRM system and finance platform to ensure accurate data flow.
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies between systems.
* Maintain high data integrity to support accurate reporting on funds, grants and donations.
* Contribute to system improvements that enhance efficiency across finance processes.
Grant and Fund Financial Management
* Work closely with programme and fundraising teams to ensure financial information aligns with donor and programme reporting requirements.
* Prepare and distribute fund statements.
* Process and reconcile investment reports from external investment managers.
* Maintain detailed fund tracking spreadsheets and post revaluations and adjustments within financial systems.
Payroll and Staff Cost Management
* Prepare monthly payroll input for external payroll providers.
* Post payroll journals including pensions and statutory deductions.
* Process staff expense claims in line with organisational policies and HMRC guidance.
Operational and Strategic Support
* Monitor bank balances and manage internal fund transfers where required.
* Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready financial records.
* Support finance-related committee meetings and cross-organisational projects aimed at improving financial processes.
* Provide clear financial guidance to colleagues across the organisation to support informed decision-making.
Person Specification Essential
* Experience working in a similar finance role.
* Strong experience with day-to-day finance operations such as reconciliations, purchase ledger and journal postings.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies quickly.
* Comfortable working with financial systems and complex spreadsheets.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
* Collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to support colleagues across a small team environment.
* Commitment to the values and mission of a community-focused organisation.
Desirable
* Qualified accountant or equivalent experience.
* Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM systems.
