Job Description:
Field Network Engineer – Short Term Contract – Site Based / Home Counties
VIQU have partnered with an organisation providing infrastructure and network services to schools cross the UK.
We are looking for a Field Network Engineer to support a number of upcoming initiatives focussed around WiFi and network refresh projects, specifically involving Aruba wireless and switching.
This is a field-based role, working across the Home Counties.
Role Responsibilities
*Configure and commission Aruba Access Points
*Perform wireless site surveys and optimise Wi-Fi coverage and performance
*Install and configure Aruba switches
*Configure and manage VLANs for segmentation, security, and performance
*Implement and maintain Layer 2/Layer 3 network configurations
*Troubleshoot wired and wireless network issues across school environments
*Apply best practices in network security and stability
*Produce and maintain accurate network documentation
*Collaborate with project teams to deliver upgrades and new deployments
*Provide post-installation support, including handover documentation and knowledge transfer
Key Skills & Experience Required
*Proven hands-on experience as a Field Network Engineer, working with Aruba wireless solutions
*Strong experience configuring Aruba switches (AOS-S and AOS-CX)
*Excellent understanding of Aruba Central, including switch templates
*Solid knowledge of VLANs, trunking, and network segmentation
*Strong grounding in TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and routing fundamentals
*Confident troubleshooting network performance and stability issues
*Ability to interpret network diagrams and produce high-quality technical documentation
