Unqualified English Teacher - Northampton
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Potential Permanent Opportunity
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are partnering with a supportive and well-regarded secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an Unqualified English Teacher starting in April 2026. This position is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced school support staff who are keen to build their confidence and experience within a successful English department.
The Role*Supporting the teaching of English across KS3 and KS4, following the department’s schemes of work
*Delivering small group sessions and targeted literacy interventions
*Encouraging students to improve their reading, writing, and analytical skills
*Helping to maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
*Contributing to wider English department activities such as reading programmes and enrichment opportunities
This Role Could Be Ideal If You*Hold a degree in English, Literature, or a related subject, or have strong subject knowledge
*Are currently working as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, or Instructor and want to take on more responsibility
*Are planning to pursue teacher training through a PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct route
*Are confident, proactive, and enthusiastic about working with young people
*Have previous experience working with secondary-aged students (beneficial but not essential)
