Job Description:
We are currently working with a well established and growing organisation in Sussex who are looking to appoint an Bookkeeper on a 12 - 18 month maternity cover contract. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong transactional finance experience who enjoys working in a varied and hands-on finance role.The role will 30 hours and can be flexibly split over 4 or 5 days.
You will work closely with the Finance Manager and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities*Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions
*Raising invoices and resolving ledger queries
*Managing employee expenses including credit cards and mileage
*Supporting credit control activities, including taking payments and managing client accounts
*Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll administration
*Completing bank reconciliations and preparing payments to suppliers and HMRC
*Supporting VAT, PAYE and CIS submissions
*Maintaining accurate records within accounting and management systems
*Assisting with internal and external audit processes
About You*Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role
*Experience supporting or processing payroll
*Comfortable managing purchase ledger, sales ledger and reconciliations
*Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
*Confident using Excel and accounting systems (Xero experience beneficial but not essential)
*AAT study or similar would be advantageous but not required
