MAINFRAME NETWORK ENGINEER – CONTRACT
Rate: £250 to £270/day
Duration: 6 months
Location: Remote – UK based (London preferred)
Start: Immediate
The Role
An experienced Mainframe Network Engineer is required for a hands-on technical role covering configuration, administration and support of IBM z/OS mainframe network environments. The role includes out-of-hours on-call and requires the ability to manage multiple workstreams in parallel across both support and project activity.
Key Responsibilities
*Configuration and administration of IBM z/OS mainframe network software
*Configuration and administration of network-related third-party system software
*Technical support for mainframe networking issues including out-of-hours on-call
*Mainframe networking resource for internal and external projects
*Monitor performance and instigate remedial action where required
*Produce clear technical documentation and ensure regulatory compliance
Essential Skills
*TCP/IP and associated protocols
*SNA, VTAM, APPN / Enterprise Extender
*Connect Direct or equivalent file transfer products
*Session Management tools – TPX, Teleview, CL/Supersession or similar
*Network Management tools – NETVIEW, Netmaster/TCPIP or similar
*Strong organisational skills – able to manage parallel workstreams
*Excellent written and verbal English
