AWS DEVOPS ENGINEER – CONTRACT
Rate: £250 to £270/day – Inside IR35
Duration: 6 months
Location: Remote with occasional onsite – Manchester, Newcastle or London (up to 2 days/week)
Start: ASAP – short notice preferred
Residency: Minimum 5 years UK residency – MANDATORY
Clearance: BPSS – arranged by client
The Role
An experienced AWS DevOps Engineer is needed to support the High Level Design and prototyping phase of a major Move to Cloud programme for a UK Government department. Working across infrastructure and application teams, you will drive automation and modernise deployment practices built to AWS best practice.
Key Responsibilities
*Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (GitOps) and Helm
*Develop and optimise infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
*Support containerisation and migration of legacy batch components into Kubernetes
*Collaborate across application and infrastructure teams to improve build, deployment and operational processes
*Maintain version control, artifact registries and pipeline integrations
*Ensure alignment with AWS best practices for reliability, scalability and security
Essential Skills
*GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD or Helm – hands-on experience
*Terraform and infrastructure-as-code
*Kubernetes and containerised environments
*Strong AWS cloud background
*5+ years DevOps experience
*5 years UK residency (mandatory – Government programme)
