If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Credit Manager - Corporate Credit Risk.
You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by independently evaluating and approving high-value credit transactions across Corporates, Commercial Real Estate, and Global Private Bank. Your expertise will be sought after by a wide range of stakeholders, and you’ll play a pivotal role in setting risk appetite, managing emerging risks, and supporting the ongoing development of offshore colleagues. This is your chance to shape lending guidelines, contribute to sustainable finance initiatives, and work closely with senior management, making your work both highly visible and instrumental to our success.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you’ll:
*Assess and approve credit transactions and annual reviews within your delegated authority, and make well-structured recommendations for those exceeding your authority, covering Corporates, Commercial Real Estate, and Global Private Bank
*Conduct periodic portfolio reviews to identify trends, concentration risks, and problem exposures, and undertake sector reviews to set and manage risk appetite and lending guidelines
*Coordinate with Group Risk, Regional Risk, origination teams, and portfolio management to ensure timely and high-quality credit decisions and portfolio oversight
*Participate in working groups and projects to improve processes, design policy, streamline operations, and enhance risk management, including supporting the development of offshore teams
*Monitor emerging risks such as transition risk, fraud risk, and climate risk, and implement enhanced risk controls when needed, including updating appetite status and managing Watch, Worry, Monitor lists
*Collaborate alongside the Senior Manager to deliver professional risk management, contribute to team succession planning, talent management, and employee engagement, especially with offshore colleagues
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
*Demonstrable ability to evaluate and approve complex credit transactions and annual reviews, within Corporate, Commercial Real Estate, or Private Banking
*Experience conducting portfolio reviews, identifying trends and risks, and managing industry or counterparty risk appetite, including setting lending guidelines and sector caps
*Proven track record of collaborating with a range of stakeholders, such as origination teams, portfolio management, and risk functions, to coordinate credit decisions and portfolio oversight
*Involvement in working groups or projects to improve processes, design policy, streamline operations, or enhance risk management frameworks
*Experience in monitoring emerging risks (e.g., transition risk, fraud risk, climate risk), implementing enhanced controls, and managing Watch, Worry, Monitor lists
*Ability to support team leadership, succession planning, and employee engagement, particularly in a cross-border or offshore team environment
Opening up a world of opportunity.
Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
