Financial Controller
Oxfordshire– On site 5 days per week
Salary up to £80,000 + benefits (flexible for the right experience)
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a large European business. This is a senior leadership role within a growing finance operation, responsible for driving the transformation of the Record-to-Report function across multiple European entities. The business operates in a complex, multi-site, multi-currency environment and is looking for someone who can bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability and experience from a large corporate or listed organisation to help evolve the shared service model into a more mature, value-adding finance function. This role is based fully on site in Oxfordshire and would suit someone comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced and changing environment. You will lead the end-to-end Record to Report (R2R) and controlling function across European entities, ensuring high-quality reporting, strong financial control and a consistent, standardised approach across the region.
Key responsibilities:
*Leading and developing the R2R and controlling teams within the Europe entity
*Owning the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close across multiple entities
*Ensuring accurate management reporting, statutory accounts and balance sheet governance
*Driving improvements in financial controls within a SOX / listed company environment
*Acting as the key interface across the business
*Delivering process standardisation, automation and system improvements across reporting activities
*Supporting statutory, tax and audit requirements across European entities
*Leading transformation initiatives to move the function from transactional processing to value-adding analysis
*Acting as the R2R business owner for ERP and consolidation systems (SAP / OneStream or similar)
*Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across a complex matrix organisation
Key requirements:
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
*Significant experience in financial reporting / R2R / controlling leadership roles
*Background within a large, listed or multinational corporate environment
*Experience working across multiple entities, currencies and jurisdictions
*Strong knowledge of statutory reporting, balance sheet control and audit requirements
*Strong systems knowledge (SAP, S/4HANA, OneStream or similar preferred)
*Proven track record of improving processes, controls and reporting quality
*Confident stakeholder manager, comfortable working with senior leadership
*Finance transformation or process improvement projects
