SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support TA
Location: Alvaston, Derby
Contract: April 2026 - July 2026
Hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Setting: SEMH Secondary School KS2 - KS4
About the Role
An inclusive SEMH secondary school in Alvaston, Derby is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support TA from February 2026. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate behaviour, build confidence and re-engage with learning.
The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with small classes, strong pastoral support and an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
*Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across KS2 or 3/4
*Deliver behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
*Provide 1:1 and small-group learning and emotional support
*Implement behaviour plans and risk assessments
*Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and engagement
*Uphold safeguarding and welfare procedures
The Ideal Candidate
Calm, resilient and nurturing, with experience supporting SEMH or SEN pupils. Confident managing challenging behaviour and building strong relationships.
Essential Requirements
*SEMH/SEN/PRU or alternative provision experience
*Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge
*Strong behaviour management skills
*Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
*Right to work in the UK
