Job Description:
Switchboard Operator for a Luxury Car Brand in Mayfair
The Switchboard Operator is the first point of contact for customers contacting the business by telephone. The role ensures every interaction reflects a warm, professional and premium brand experience while efficiently connecting customers to the right departments and supporting sales and service lead capture.
Contract: This is a temporary position, with no end date. There is the opportunity to go permanent with the company.
Hours: 40 hours per week, hours decided by a rota. The business is open from 7:45am - 6pm on Monday to Wednesday and Friday, 7:45am - 8pm on Thursday and 8:30am - 5pm on Saturday. Your 40 hours will come in between these times.
Payrate: £13.54 an hour and £14.23 an hour after 3 months
Location: Mayfair, London
Responsibilities:
*Deliver a professional, welcoming and consistent greeting aligned with brand standards
*Handle inbound calls promptly, courteously and efficiently
*Understand customer needs and direct enquiries accurately to the appropriate department or colleague
*Ensure every caller feels valued and personally supported
*Qualify sales and service enquiries and capture accurate customer details
*Book appointments for Sales and Aftersales teams in line with availability and processes
*Log enquiries, leads and call outcomes in appropriate systems
*Ensure all opportunities are transferred or assigned correctly and within the correct timeframe
*Manage high call volumes while maintaining quality and composure
*Monitor and manage missed calls and voicemail callbacks
*Maintain call standards, scripts and tone-of-voice guidelines
*Support overflow or peak-time contact demand across sites if applicable
*Provide basic information on vehicles, services, opening hours and locations
*Support customer follow-up, confirmations and reminders as required
*Escalate priority or sensitive enquiries appropriately
*Maintain confidentiality and data protection compliance
*Work collaboratively with Reception/Host, Sales/Aftersales and all other teams
*Support front-of-house cover during peak or absence periods (if applicable)
*Contribute to a positive, professional and customer-focused culture
Work experience, Leadership experience:
*Previous experience in switchboard operator role within luxury automotive, luxury retail or premium hospitality environments.
*Proven track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
*Excellent time management and organisational skills and emphasis on attention to detail.
*Ability to problem solve and prioritise decision making
*Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
*Customer service or hospitality experience
*Professional, calm and organised under pressure
*Strong listening and interpersonal skills
*IT literacy (CRM/booking systems, Microsoft Office)
*Multi-line switchboard experience
*Warm, personable and service-oriented
*High attention to detail and accuracy
*Positive, proactive and reliable
*Team-focused with a customer-first mindset
*Professional presentation and behaviour
