HR Advisor
Location: Cambridge (on site for the first 6 months the potential to go hybrid)
Salary: £42,634
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
The Organisation
Our client is one of Cambridge’s most historic and respected academic institutions, located in the heart of the city. They are now seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join their HR team and support the delivery of a professional, high quality HR service across the organisation.
The Opportunity
In this role, reporting to the Head of HR, you will play a key role in supporting managers with employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence cases.
You will ensure policies and procedures are applied fairly and consistently while remaining compliant with employment law and best practice. Working closely with managers across the organisation, you will provide expert guidance throughout the employee lifecycle and support confident decision making through effective HR advice and data insights.
You will join a small and collaborative HR team supporting a workforce of approximately 250 employees. The role would suit someone who is comfortable working autonomously in a complex environment, confident handling sensitive situations and motivated by helping managers build strong and effective teams.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide guidance to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance and performance cases
*Support the management of absence, flexible working and parental leave processes
*Draft HR correspondence and documentation relating to employee relations casework
*Support managers with recruitment, onboarding and induction processes
*Assist with the review and development of HR policies and procedures
*Maintain accurate HR records and contribute to HR data reporting and analysis
*Identify trends in HR data such as absence or turnover and highlight potential risks
Skills & Experience
*CIPD Level 5 or above or equivalent relevant experience
*Degree educated or equivalent professional experience
*Experience working in a generalist HR advisory role
*Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
*Proven experience managing employee relations cases through to resolution
*Strong communication and relationship building skills
*Excellent organisational, analytical and problem solving abilities
*Experience using HR systems and HRIS platforms
*Knowledge of GDPR and handling sensitive information
