School Caretaker

Job Description:
We are currently seeking a School Caretaker to provide essential support and assistance to a Primary school in the B36 area, Hodge Hill, Birmingham. The role is starting this week, Monday – Friday! Shift times will be, 7.00am - 3.00pm. Lunch would be 12.30pm till 1pm. The ideal candidate must have experience with building maintenance and upkeep, cleaning, and key holder experience.
This role will be to start ASAP until the end of the academic year for the right candidate.
Requirements
*A trusted keyholder ( will only be opening the site).
*Can follow direct instruction and not act alone.
*Minimum understanding of basic Health and Safety and conduct in Schools where possible.
*A basic set of DIY skills but more advanced preferred.
*Good communicator
*Can work safely alone.
*To be able supervise external contractors when required and update SBSM following a visit.
*Physically fit as some lifting will be required and the site could require a fair amount of walking.
*Can be trusted to follow emergency guidance that will be given once in post if alone on shift, so School can open if their is a major issue.
Duties
*Restocking daily all welfare facilities ( plus keeping in working order) and classrooms.
*Internal re-cycling
*External works- litter picking, bin emptying, keep external site tidy ( some gardening maybe required)
*Setting up halls for events, tables and chairs and also refreshments ( timetabled)
*Attending call outs for pupil clear ups across school or toilet facility issues.
*One gate duty at start of the school day, opening up of external site on time and closing.
*Assisting SBSM in priority jobs
*DIY projects based on skill set.
*Assisting SBSM where required with health and safety jobs
