Job Description:
Based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, MRK Talent Solutions are proud to be partnering with a well-established and growing manufacturing business in their search for a Payroll Manager. This role will ideally be office-based, five days per week, but hybrid is possible.
This job would suit an experienced payroll professional who is confident managing end-to-end payroll operations independently and ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time. The role will be responsible for running a monthly payroll for a workforce comprising both hourly paid shift employees and salaried staff, including managing overtime calculations, statutory payments and payroll reconciliations. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will oversee the full payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business with a turnover of approximately £20m and a strong reputation within its sector. Having received investment in recent years, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth with ambitions to scale significantly through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. The company operates a collaborative culture with a medium-sized finance team and prides itself on its stability, long-term vision and commitment to continuous improvement.
The successful individual will be an experienced Payroll Manager or Payroll Lead who is comfortable operating in a standalone capacity and taking full ownership of payroll processes. They will have strong systems knowledge, ideally with experience using Moorepay or a similar payroll platform. A strong understanding of statutory payroll legislation, including SSP, SMP and other statutory payments, will be essential, as will the ability to manage complex payroll calculations relating to shift work, overtime and varied employee contracts.
Responsibilities include:
*Managing the end-to-end monthly payroll process for both hourly paid and salaried employees using Moorepay.
*Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes including salary adjustments and shift allowances.
*Calculating overtime, shift differentials and other variable pay elements within payroll.
*Administering statutory payments including SSP, SMP and other HMRC-regulated payments.
*Ensuring payroll compliance with HMRC regulations including RTI submissions and year-end reporting.
*Reconciling payroll reports to the general ledger and supporting month-end processes.
*Maintaining accurate payroll records and employee data within the payroll system.
*Acting as the primary contact for payroll queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
*Supporting payroll audits and ensuring appropriate controls and documentation are maintained.
*Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and optimise system functionality.
This is a great opportunity for a Payroll Manager looking to join an ambitious growing company offering the opportunity to take full ownership of the payroll function within a collaborative and supportive finance environment.
